In Nigeria, mass kidnappings of schoolchildren continue to be a major issue. Recently, over a hundred children were abducted from a private Muslim school, with some managing to escape. The kidnappers left behind younger children aged 4 to 12. This incident follows the release of 14 students in Kaduna after a 40-day ordeal, during which five were executed to pressure families and the government for ransom. Families reportedly paid $435,000 to secure their children's release. Armed groups in Nigeria's central and northwest regions are causing widespread terror, looting villages, stealing livestock, and conducting mass kidnappings for ransom.
