After you place the AED on the ground near the person’s head, you should first: 

• clear the person before pressing the shock button
• apply AED pads
• wait for AED prompts
• turn on the AED

After placing the AED pads on the person’s bare chest, you should: 

• follow AED prompts
• quickly press the shock button
• recheck the person for response
• recheck the person for breathing

 The AED prompts you not to touch the person while it is analyzing the heart rhythm. You should: 

• stop CPR because it is no longer needed after an AED arrives
• continue CPR until the AED prompts to push the shock button
• stop CPR while the AED is analyzing
•  none of the above

The AED states “Shock advised” and prompts you to push the shock button. Before pushing the shock button you should: 

• say "Clear!" while looking up and down the person or his clothes
• immediately press the shock button because you already know that no one is nearby
• check the battery life to ensure there is enough to deliver a shock
• recheck pad placement to make sure the shock will be delivered

After pulling (child/infant) him out of the water you should: 

• check response by tapping his shoulders and shouting
• check response by flicking the soles of his feed and shouting
• look for his parents to get permission to help him
• leave the child to go all 911 and get the AED and quickly return
