In Afghanistan, the Taliban violently dispersed a women's protest demanding work and education rights. The protest, held near the Ministry of Education, was quickly broken up by Taliban fighters firing into the air. Many women were chased and beaten. Women's protests have become rare due to the detention of organizers. Since the Taliban regained power, women's freedoms have been steadily eroded, reversing gains made over the past 20 years. Women are now largely excluded from public jobs and face salary cuts, with many ordered to stay home.
