James Cameron, known for directing 'The Abyss', successfully piloted his submersible, Deep Sea Challenger, to the bottom of Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench, the deepest point on Earth. His vehicle is equipped with advanced technology, unlike the previous mission over 50 years ago. Cameron described the trench as an alien world, less explored than the moon. His mission, in partnership with National Geographic, aims to document and explore further. Despite being a filmmaker, Cameron's investment in exploration is seen as a positive use of resources.
