This Fruit Could Treat Parkinson's... Even Though It Causes Parkinson's Symptoms

In the 1990s, doctors observed unusual symptoms in certain regions, linked to the consumption of soursop, a fruit containing the neurotoxin annonacin. This toxin was found to harm dopamine-producing neurons, potentially causing Parkinson's-like symptoms. However, soursop also contains compounds that may protect these neurons. Research is ongoing to develop treatments for Parkinson's using these compounds, with promising results from a synthesized molecule called PPQ.
