Atmospheric River

Atmospheric rivers are narrow bands of concentrated moisture that transport water vapor from the tropics to higher latitudes. They are significant weather phenomena that can span thousands of miles and are crucial for delivering moisture to land, impacting agriculture and water resources. However, they can also cause flooding, landslides, and travel disruptions when combined with storm systems. The US Air Force Reserve conducts missions to gather data to better understand and predict these atmospheric events.
