After personal tragedies, he retreated to North Dakota as a rancher. Roosevelt's bravery in capturing thieves and leading the Rough Riders in the Spanish-American War propelled him into politics. He became the youngest U.S. president at 42 after McKinley's assassination. Despite being shot during a campaign, he continued his speech. Post-presidency, he explored the Amazon, nearly dying from a leg wound. Roosevelt's resilience and leadership transformed the presidency.
