Amtrak Seeks $1.5 Billion Bailout

Amtrak has faced a 95% drop in ridership and ticket revenue since the pandemic began. To cope, the company received $1 billion in emergency funding and plans to cut 20% of its workforce in the next fiscal year, starting in October. Amtrak is a government-owned corporation employing 18,000 people nationwide.
