A new wasp species, Microgaster Godzilla, was discovered in Japan. It is known for its unique ability to enter water to hunt moth larvae. The wasp has evolved special adaptations like curved tarsal claws to grip surfaces underwater. It searches for its host, the Ilofila tribata larvae, by walking on floating plants. Once found, the wasp uses its antennae to probe and force the larvae out of their cases, sometimes diving underwater. The wasp then paralyzes the larvae and lays eggs inside them. The wasp larvae consume the host from the inside until they pupate.
