Cholera

Cholera is a treatable bacterial infection causing acute diarrhea, yet it claims over 100,000 lives annually due to lack of access to clean water and sanitation. The World Health Organization aims to reduce cholera deaths by 90% by 2030 through improved water access, sanitation, education, and vaccination programs, supported by the World Bank. Despite its long history, cholera remains a global challenge due to poor sanitation and limited public health resources. The Global Task Force on Cholera Control is working towards eradicating cholera in 20 countries by 2030.
