Match the following parts of a Response to Literature/Evidence Based Writing:

Stands for Title, Author, Genre. In your first 1 or 2 sentences, you should include this information.

The next 2-3 sentences of your introduction should summarize the text you will be writing about.

The last sentence of your introductory paragraph should be your claim. Essentially, this sentence states your BASIC answer to the question from the prompt (or whatever you are trying to prove).

The first sentence of each body paragraph should state a REASON that supports your claim.

Before you cite your evidence from the text, you must introduce it and ”set the scene” for your reader. This can be as simple as writing, “The author states,”

Do not introduce any new evidence here. Simply remind the reader of your premises. One sentence per body paragraph.

Write one final sentence that leaves the reader with no further questions.

The statement should not be specific to the text, but rather reflect a more universal truth, without being too vague. (Whew! That’s a tall order!) 3. Cross out “the author believes” and you are left with a thematic statement.

When a text or chapter concludes suddenly or with a thrilling plot twist. Cliffhangers usually leave big questions unanswered, resulting in readers who want to know more!
