Imperialism

• Being able to march effectively.

Open Door Policy(China)

• You had to leave every door open in China.

• Being forced to assimilate to Chinese culture.

• All countries could equally trade with China and that China should be respected in terms of territory and administration.

Assimilation

• Being forced to fight in a War.

• When a group adopts the values, behaviors,and beliefs of another group.

• When a group does not like another group due to culture.

• Having to complete a task you know nothing about.

Paternalism

• Making decisions for other people rather than letting them take responsibility for their own lives.

• Forcing your ideals and beliefs onto others.

• Not liking someone else's parents.

• Not being able to speak to people for specific reasons.

Extraterritoriality

• Not knowing what laws to follow due to extra legislation.

• Having to find an extra to achieve task.

• Being extremely angry at someone.

• States applying their nation's law outside its own territory.

• When boxers tried to fight other nations.

• United States foreign policy that opposes European involvement in the Western Hemisphere.

Roosevelt Corollary

• Expanded on Monroe Doctrine and claimed the USA would preserve order in the Western Hemisphere.

• Was a corollary that prevented Roosevelt from exploring the World.
