What is an example of peer review?

• when a teacher grades your work
• when your parents grade your writing
• when other students in your class evaluate your work/writing
• when you review one of your peers

What is the best way for a peer reviewer to address problems in an analytical essay?

• a. Write down all the problems and hand the list to the writer before starting the peer review.

• b. Describe and suggest solutions for the problems after describing the strengths of the essay.

• c. Explain all of the problems with the essay right away, as soon as you start the peer review process.

• d. Avoid bringing up any problems with the essay; only mention the essay’s strengths during peer review.

Your name and the name of the person you are peer reviewing for (example: My name is Ms. Vences and I am reviewing Sandra Cisneros' paper)

What is the title of the vignette you are looking over?

Write a line (and cite it) from their vignette that includes a simile or metaphor. If none, write "____ did not write one"

Example: how to cite: She wrote "I felt like an eagle, so free and brave" (Cisneros 2). This is a simile

Are there a lot of grammar/spelling errors? If so, help them fix it by annotating their paper. Remind them that I take points off for every mistake.

Was there a clear theme? (something that you learned about this person/message about life?) if so, explain. If not, help them to see how they can incorporate one. This is the MAIN part about writing a vignette.

Is it properly formatted? (MLA- times new roman, double spaced, 12 pt font, indenting when speaking or starting a new paragraph, last name page number, name, teacher, course, date)
