When must we wash our hands?

• After toilet use

• Before eating.

• Before preparing food

• All of the above

Why is it important that we wash our hands?

• A.     Because our Mum told me to

• To minimise the spread of infection

• So that we don’t leave fingerprints on the paperwork

• We don’t need to; washing hands reduces our natural antibodies

How long should we wash our hands for?

• 5 minutes. Enough time to sing “Bohemian Rapsody”.

• As long as it takes to get them looking clean.

• Until the boss tells me to stop, and get back to work.

• 2 minutes. Enough time to sing “Happy Birthday“ twice.

How much liquid soap should we use?

• Enough to lightly cover both hands

• Tiniest little smear

• No soap; Liquid soap is a major source of contamination

• Half a bottle on each hand- remember to replace the bottle for the next person.

Why do we use a paper towel to turn off the tap?

• To stop the next person getting your germs of the tap

• To keep the tap looking shiny

• To prevent contamination of your just-cleaned hands

• To support our paper industry
