Behavior Progressive Discipline Response Plan/ attendance

Minor Incidents include (but are not limited to):

• • Inappropriate cell phone use

• • Talking over others

• • Eating / Drinking

• • Non-compliance /Apathy

  • Avoidance

• • Profanity (indirect)

Minor Incidents should be handled by

• Admin first

• The dean of students

• the classroom teacher

• HWT

Examples of teacher response for minor incidents include (but are not limited to):

• • Reminders

• • Give students space/Walk away for minute

• • Proximity

  • Non-verbal cues

• • 1:1 Conference

• • Calling out the student in front of the class.

Intermediate Incidents include (but are not limited to):

• • Multiple occurrences of Minor incidents.

• • Verbal dispute between two students (non-physical).

• Talking over other students.

• Eating/ drinking

If the intermediate incident is not time sensitive, you should...

• Immediately escalate the incident
• Call the main office immediately

• Use MTSS form

Step 1 (intermediate incidents): First Behavioral Referral includes:

• • Conference with a Dean

  • Caregiver called. 

• • Student will be asked to participate in a mediation or restorative justice circle.

• • Student will be asked to make a restorative action to the community.

• Immediate suspension of the student

Step 3 (intermediate incident): Step 3: Third Behavior Referral or Egregious Offense

• • Student is removed from the classroom or the school as deemed necessary and have an immediate conference with the Head of School or a Dean on the next school day.

  • Caregiver(s) contacted consistent with the BPS Code of Conduct.

• • Seniors who are suspended will lose the privilege of attending prom and graduation. You may request an appeal hearing for the loss of those privileges in May of your senior year.

• • Sophomore or Juniors who are suspended will lose the privilege of attending prom.

• Freshmen will not loose any privileges until they reach their sophomore year, where the will risk loosing privilege of prom.

• Talking over other students

• Swearing in class

• • Physical Fight

  • Threats

  • Weapons

• Eating/ drinking
