How to use WHO probe for periodontal screening?

• insert forcefully into sulcus

• use light probing force and walk around sulcus

• probe all primary teeth present at the time of recording

• only index teeth were examined for adult

these are steps to record BPE for adult except

• the dentition is divided to 6 sextent

• each sextent must contain at least 2 teeth

• all teeth in each sextent are examined

• erupting 3rd molar is included

if code bpe: 1 is detected, what is presence in the mouth

• black band on WHO probe invisible

• healthy gingiva

• bleeding on probing

• abundant calculus

in which condition black band of WHO probe if partially visible except

• present of bleeding on probing

• pocket depth more than 3mm but less than 5mm

• present of supra and subgingiva calculus

• pocket depth more than 5mm

in which conditioned the patient need referral?

• controlled DM with BPE 3

• all black band of WHO probe is invisible

• bleeding from mucosa around implant

• patient request for referral

these are initial cause related theraphy except

• refer patient to dental specialist

• motivate patient and explain regarding periodontal disease

• root debridement for pocket depth- 4-5mm

• advice patient to stop smoking
