For the Ielts reading (yes, no not given) is a good idea to

• Comparing what the statement says vs the text

• Looking for the answers at the same time

• NO contradicts the information given whereas NOT GIVEN deals with data not found in the text (inferences)

The first thing to do on the Ielts reading is:

• To highlight keywords in the questions-statements

• To skim the text

• To scan the text

• To read the complete text

The second thing to do is to:

• Scan the text separately from the questions' content

• Read the tittle and get an idea of the text content

While comparing the data of the question to the information given by the text I need to consider that:

In 1890, Louis Dollo proposed that evolution was irreversible: that 'an organism is unable to return, even partially to a previous stage already realized in the ranks of its ancestors.' Pilkington built a pilot plant in 1953 and by 1955 he had convinced his company to build a full-scale plant.
