Nonfiction Unit

What is Nonfiction?

• The message of the story stated in one or two complete sentences.

• prose writing that is based on facts, real events, and real people, such as biography or history.

• When a character thinks back to an event that occurred before the story began. Sometimes flashbacks are written as separate “interrupter” sections within a novel or short story.

• in which the speaker means something very different from what he or she is saying.

What is literary Nonfiction

• a literary technique, originally used in Greek tragedy, by which the full significance of a character's words or actions are clear to the audience or reader although unknown to the character.

• A nonfiction prose

• a type of prose that uses literary techniques usually associated with fiction to report on actual persons, places, events
