National Service Trade Program is also known as the NSTP Law, Republic Act No. 9163, NSTP Act of 2001, signed by the former President Gloria Arroyo on January 23, 2002.

NSTP students are to undergo in any of its 3 program components which are ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps), LTS (Literacy Training Service) & CWTS (Civic Welfare Training Services).

In the Philippines, freshmen college students are expected to complete one NSTP component as a graduation requirement.

ROTC (Reserved Officers' Training Corps) is one of the components of NSTP that aims to provide military training to elementary students for national defense preparedness.

CWTS (Civic Welfare Training Service) is one of the components of NSTP that aims to impede to the general welfare of the community or enhancement of its facility.

LTS (Literary Training Service) is designed to train students to become teachers of literacy and numeracy skills in need of their services

NSTP class excludes topics on Filipino Core Values and values development.

• 
• 

NSTP class includes topics on leadership, human behavior, good communication and decision making.

NSTP class includes exposure and agency visits on nature development, community work and community-building.
