THE CROW AND THE JUG
Once there was a very thirsty crow. She looked everywhere for water but could not find any. At last she saw an old jug that had some water in the bottom of it. The crow pushed her beak down into the jug. She pushed and pushed but she could not get near the water.
There were stones near the jug. The crow had an idea. She picked up one stone and dropped it into the jug. The water moved up higher in the jug. The crow picked up another stone and dropped it into the jug. The water in the jug moved up higher still. She picked up another and another...
The crow kept dropping stones into the jug. At last the water had moved to the top of the jug. The crow was able to have a drink. She drank and drank until she was no longer thirsty. The crow thought that she was very clever.
What was the crow looking everywhere for?
