Maddie biked  8348\frac{3}{4} miles today, and Chase biked  3123\frac{1}{2}   miles. How many times the length of Chase’s bike ride was Maddie’s bike ride?

 25\frac{2}{5}  times as far

 32\frac{3}{2}  times as far

 52\frac{5}{2}  times as far

 2870\frac{28}{70}  times as far

MULTIPLE SELECT QUESTION

Select all equations that represent this question:
Tommy is stacking donuts to build “Tommy’s Famous Tower of Donuts!”  He takes a break (possibly to eat donuts, but possibly just to step back and admire his work) when the tower is 5 feet tall, which is  23\frac{2}{3}    of the height of the tower he wants to build. How tall is the tower when finished?  (Hint: There are 3.)

 23÷5=?\frac{2}{3}\div5=?

 23?=5\frac{2}{3}\cdot?=5

 5?=235\cdot?=\frac{2}{3}

 5÷23=?5\div\frac{2}{3}=?

 532=?5\cdot\frac{3}{2}=?

Select all statements that show correct reasoning for finding 13÷4513\div\frac{4}{5}

Multiply 13 by 5, then multiply by  14\frac{1}{4}

Multiply 13 by 4, then divide by 5.

Multiply 13 by 5, then divide by 4.

Multiply 13 by  15\frac{1}{5} , then multiply by 4.

Media Image

Allison and Louise are looking at this tape diagram and they see different answers.  They both agree that the problem is  4÷354\div\frac{3}{5}  but they disagree about what it means.
Allison says the diagram shows  4÷35=6254\div\frac{3}{5}=6\frac{2}{5}
Louise says that the diagram shows  4÷35=6234\div\frac{3}{5}=6\frac{2}{3}
Who is correct and why?

Allison because the picture clearly says that the extra part is  25\frac{2}{5}  so it is  6256\frac{2}{5}

Louise because the two extra pieces at the end are 2 of the 3 pieces that would be needed to make a 7th group thus it is  6236\frac{2}{3}

Allison because when something is cut into 5th's we need to keep a common denominator thus it is  6256\frac{2}{5}

Louise because I would use keep change flip so  35\frac{3}{5}  would become  53\frac{5}{3} which is equal to  1231\frac{2}{3}
