Chapter 14 Positive Guidance

The purpose of guidance is to

• help children develop socially acceptable behavior

• help the teacher develop age appropriate lesson plans

• observe the children, and develop assessments

• to reinforce negative behaviors

Active listing is

• Explaining to the child how to complete a project

• Reading to a child

• Repeating what the child said to you

• used when setting limits with the children
