ASL 1 SYLLABUS

What are my course overviews for ASL 1?

• Students will learn about a language you use your hands to communicate with.

• Students will learn about a language similar to charades

• Students will learn about a language that will increase& develop receptive & expressive communication skills.

• Students will learn about a language you see not hear.

Required materials?

• spiral notebook, pens, 6 dividers, phone

• 3 ring binder, cell phone( QR code app) paper, pens

• Spiralnotebook, 4 dividers, paper, index cards, cell phone with 2 apps.

• 3 ring binder, charged chromebook, pens, index cards, colored pencils, 4 dividers, 2 apps on your phone.

GRADES

• 20% charts/ grammar/voc 50% expressive 30% formative

• 50% test and quizes 50% CW & HW

• 15% formative, 15% receptive,30% summative, 20% expressive

• 30% summative, 20% expressive, 15% receptive,15% formative, 20%grammar/charts/voc

What do I expect from my students?

• walk around, be on your phones, not look at me, not be prepared with charged chromebooks, be MEAN to others, dont see it, say it, do it, and have a closed mindset.

• SEE it, SAY it, & Talk, no cell phones, be closed minded get out of your seat.

• Positive attitudes and effort, see it say it, do it, be respectful and accepting of others, be open-minded and willing to LEARN, stay in your seat have materials.

• have a good attitude and do my work.

Late work & attendence

• Mrs. Orjuela will take late work at anytime as long as you do it.

• If you are absent it is Mrs. Orjuelas responsibility to remind you that your work is in a folder near the door and in GC

• If you are absent you will lose 10 points per day LATE including the days you dont see me.

• If you are absent it is your responsibility to remember that your work is in a folder near the door and in GC.

What is my policy with the phones?

• You can use them if you are done with your work?

• You can use them if they are being used for instructional purpose.

• Phones belong in your lap/pocket.

• Phones belong in your BAG or in my POUCH on the wall if you want extra credit at the end of each Quarter!

Restroom / Hall pass

• Make eye contact, wait for approval, Castle out, phone in Mrs.O's wall pouch, name on board, chromebook in front of room.

Academic Honesty

• copy someone else work, answers. Better to copy then get a zero.

• copy someone elses work, and pretend you understand the assignment.

• Ask Mrs. Orjuela on an email/ GC post or in person to help me with what I dont understand.

• cheating will result in a zero for the one lending out work and copying work.

Food and drink policy

• You can eat and drink soda and energy drinks in class.

• no food allowed in class, except water

• Food and drinks are allowed as long as we are sneaky about it.

I agree to comply with all of the classroom procedures and expectaions. If I do not follow these procedures.....

• I will get on Mrs.O's bad side and never get out of her bad side.

• I will get a referral and a call home.

• Mrs.Orjuela will be mad at me, dissapointed and never help me to pass. If I end up with a 59% my grade will STAY a 59%! No extra help will be given since I did not do MY BEST in her class.

• Mrs.Orjuela will be very disapointed to have to call home to tell my parents I was not being the best student I can be.
