The tie has a relatively wide width, and its length meets up with the buckle of the belt. It is green in colour and is made with silk, and matches the shirt the teacher is wearing.

The tie is worn for decorative purposes including to project a level of professionalism and knowledge of current fashions. It is also being worn in order to comply with dress requirements of the workplace. By wearing the tie, the teacher is complying with the requirements of the workplace while at the same time projecting professionalism and good fashion.

Both the teacher's tie and the OFGS tie are being worn in order to comply with dress and uniform requirements of the school. However, the teacher's tie is green and is of a higher quality than the OFGS tie, and the OFGS tie is blue, not green.

A good tie is one that projects professionalism, complies with dress requirements and demonstrates good fashion. Mr. Potts' tie, when seen by students, both projects and reinforces his professionalism and thus ability to teach his students the content. Further, the tie complies with the dress requirements of the school. However, although the tie demonstrates coordination of fashion by being the same colour of part of the shirt, the knot is not as strong as it could be. As such, it is a relatively good tie that is slightly undermined by its knot.
