Lesson 6: Fantasy
3
Authors write fantasy stories to entertain the reader.
These stories including events and characters that are not real.
The setting may be in a magical land with objects or animals that do not exist in the real world.
Characteristics of the Genre
4
Fantasy stories include sensory and descriptive language to help the reader visualize.
Since the events or characters are not real, authors must use their writing to create a picture in the reader's mind.
Characteristics of the Genre
5
Even though fantasy stories may include magical lands and interesting creatures, the characters still face problems. Authors may include problems that only exist in a fantasy world but they still require a solution. Remember problem and solution in fiction is called Conflict and Resolution.
