The Value of Notes and Rests
Lesson 4.2

3
In your previous lesson, you revisited the element of rhythm and created rhythms based on the symbols you learned.
4
Audio Response
Record the following rhythm. Remember to use "Ta" and "Ti Ti" to vocalize your rhythms. You can also clap the rhythm as well

5
To read a piece of music, a performer looks at the notes on the page. Musical notes tell the musician what notes to perform and for how long. The different notes tell the performer the duration of each note.
In this lesson, you will make a connection between the rhythm symbols you learned and how they relate to certain notes and their values. Note value means how many beats of sound that note represents.
6
A quarter note is a note that receives one beat of sound.
"Ta"

An eighth note is a note that gets half a beat of sound and is often paired with another eighth note to equal one beat.
"Ti-Ti"
Eighth Note
Replace this with your body text. All provided templates can be reused multiple times.

The whole note looks completely different from all the other notes that you have explored in this lesson.
The whole has no stem on it at all and equals four beats of sound.
This means that in a four-beat rhythm, this note would be four beats of the same sound.
