Simple Sentences:
Express a complete thought.
Have a subject (who?)
Have a predicate (what?)
Ex: The pandas slept all day.
are 2 simple sentences joined together.
They have a conjuction (FANBOYS) and usually a comma.
Ex: Antelopes have an excellent sense of smell ,and they have great hearing.
Compound Sentences:

Now look at the revised sentence: I flung off the covers and jumped out of bed.
Now let's see how you can make this sentence more exciting: It is hot outside.
Now we are going to practice stretching our sentences and making them more exciting.
