Equivalent Fractions
We have learned that fractions are equivalent when the wholes we are comparing are the same SIZE and cover the same AMOUNT.
3
What are some strategies we can use to help us find equivalent fractions?
I can draw a rectangular area model for each fraction, making sure the models are the same size.
I can draw number lines for each fraction to compare the size and amount of the fractional parts.
4
Let's practice our strategies for finding equivalent fractions.
We will start with a few quick problems to warm up!
