a news article about the same newsworthy moment,
gives a third-person account of the race. The primary

State the main language/format feature
Comment on the different forms and styles of both passages.
This means being able to identify the particular differences
and express those differing qualities clearly and analytically,
rather than in vague or unspecific ways.

Evidence
Refer precisely to evidence or quotation from each text. This
means being able to select the relevant words, phrases or
references to longer 'chunks' of text to support the points
you make.

Explain
Explain the effects of different linguistic and structural
features.
This means not merely identifying differences but being able
to explain how they affect the tone and purpose of the text in
question, or how they create a particular impact on the
reader.

Summarize/Tie Back (optional)
End with a statement of the overall importance of the
comparison or contrast of the feature and how it links to
author’s purpose.
If you feel what you have already stated covers everything,
this can be optional.
