• A common noun can be any person, place, thing, or idea and is only capitalized in the beginning of a sentence. 

• Examples: firefighter, book, phone, etc.

Proper Nouns

• A proper noun names a person, place, or thing and is always capitalized. 

• Examples: Billy, Mrs. Bhatia, Stryker, France, Finding Nemo, Taco Bell
