Here are some examples of present tense verbs.

How to know if a verb is present tense

To find out if a verb is present tense, look at the ending of the word. If it ends in -s or has no -s at the end it is probably present tense.

Dave drives his car to work.

This sentence has a present tense verb, because drives ends with an

-s.

The present-tense verbs tell about something that happens NOW.

Present-Tense Verbs

If the subject is one, the verb takes -s or -es at the end.

Add -es if the word ends with -s, -ch, -sh, or -x. ​

John wears a jacket.

Sarah misses her school.

Ron watches TV.

Danny washes the car.

For most verbs we add -s to the base form to make the she, he, it (third person singular) form:

• come → comes

• order → orders

• travel → travels

• eat → eats

• walk → walks
