The sum of the terms in a geometric sequence.

Ex:

10 + 5 + 2.5 + ....​

Geometric Series

A sequence in which each term is found by multiplying the previous number by the same number.

Ex:

3, 6, 12, 24, ... (multiplied by 2)

Geometric Sequence

In a geometric sequence, each term increases by the same ratio. ​

Geometric Sequence Formula

The common ratio is the number that is multiplied to the previous number in a geometric sequence to get the next number in the sequence.

What does the Sigma notation mean? ​

The variable "n" represents the number of terms in the series.

"n"

"g1" represents the first term of the series (sequence). ​

Geometric Series Formula​

​

To calculate each sum, you must start myltipling the last term by the common ratio and sutract the first term. Then, you divide the quantity by 1 less than the common ratio.

Sn = ((last term)(commonratio) - first term​)) / (common ratio - 1)
