The origin of a word is where it all began 

Don’t get fooled, use this plan. 

When you see “comes from a word” or “derived”  

It’s means it’s where it started, how it arrived. 

Don’t get confused with all the definitions  

The test makers put them in there to cause suspicions. 

So skip to the end and find the brackets with clues 

It starts with the language like Greek or Hebrew 

Then it tells what it means and that’s what you choose. 

Here’s one that we’ll use:

  • There are four  definitions, but that is not what I am looking for; I am looking for the  origin or derivation. I need to find the brackets to find the answer. The  information in the brackets is at the very end of the dictionary entry.
