  • What you think, is what you do

  • There are strategies that you can try even if you don't know what to do

What should you think?

  • First, read the problem and identify the key information bu underlining.

  • Second try to get a picture in your head of what is happening.

  • If you can't picture it, draw it on your paper.

  • Based upon what is happening decide if you are multiplying, dividing, subtracting, and adding.

  • Once you complete the problem ask yourself, "Is my answer reasonable?"

  • Every time you have to complete an operation there is a step.

  • The operations are add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

  • Converting is also a step. Convert means convert a fraction, percent, decimal.

  • Reducing is also a step. Reducing a fraction means you are changing to it's most simple form.
