Ripasso - Review of Present Tense
So far, you know how to conjugate Present Tense Verbs:
Io gioco - I play, I am playing
Tu mangi - You eat, you are eating
Lui canta - He sings, he is singing
Noi dormiamo - We sleep, we are sleeping
Voi leggete - You (all) read, you (all) are reading
Loro puliscono - They clean, they are cleaning

Today, you're learning how to say something already happened
To do this, you'll use the Past Tense

Buona Notizia - it's easy!!!! :)
It's kind of like English "have sung", "have sold", or "have slept" - you need a helping verb and a past participle.

These are the two parts:
HELPING VERB: This part tells us WHO did the action. There are 2 possible helping verbs, "Avere" and "Essere". 95% of verbs use AVERE!!! :)
PAST PARTICIPLE: This is the part that means "spoke", "ate", "received", etc, and tells us what the action was. (See next slide for how to form!)

How to form a Past Participle
Drop the -are, -ere, or -ire, and add these endings:
They are the SAME for all subjects!!

Io ho mangiato gli spaghetti.
Tu hai mangiato gli spaghetti.
Lui ha mangiato gli spaghetti.
Noi abbiamo mangiato gli spaghetti.
Voi avete mangiato gli spaghetti.
Loro hanno mangiato gli spaghetti.
