Read the following text-based writing to help you answer the next slides.

In the story “Making the Team”, Tyrell is supportive and observant. Tyrell shows he's supportive before the basketball tryouts when he says to his friend Andreas, “You shouldn’t be nervous, you’re the tallest kid in fourth grade.” This shows that he’s supportive because he wants Andreas to feel comfortable. He knows that he's nervous for the tryouts, and he comforts him and encourages him to believe in himself. Tyrell is also an observant friend. In the text it says that Tyrell comforted Andreas because he could tell he was upset. This means that Andreas didn’t even have to tell Tyrell how he was feeling—he could recognize his friend’s emotions just be looking at him. Tyrell's clearly quick to notice things, especially when it comes to his friend Andreas. Overall, Tyrell is a supportive and observant character.
