Free Verse

Not all poems have to rhyme! Free verse poems have no specific rules or patterns. They do not follow a rhyme scheme and have no specific rhythm.

Narrative

A narrative poem tells a story, usually has a rhyme scheme, and can contain dialogue.

Humorous 

a humorous poem is meant to make you laugh!

Lyrical

Lyrical poems sometimes express the thoughts and feelings of the poet. They have rhythm and rhyme, and may sometimes sound like a song.

Rhyme Scheme

A rhyme scheme is patterns of sounds that repeat at the end of each line or stanza.

Some rhyme schemes you will see are AABB and ABAB
