Lyric Poems -
express the thoughts and feelings of the poet
generally relatively short; often unrhymed; often have a musical quality

There are 3 subtypes of lyric poems:
Ode
Sonnet
Elegy

Ode -
a long lyric poem that celebrates something, someone, or some event in life

Elegy -
a serious, sad, mournful poem. It usually mourns a death or great loss; a lament for the dead; a funeral song.

Sonnet -
a lyric poem that has 14 lines with strict patterns of rhyme. Sonnets are divided into 2 parts - "octave" = the first 8 lines of the sonnet; "sestet" = the last 6 lines of the sonnet.
