What have we discussed?

  • Scale Copies - what about them

  • Corresponding Parts - what kind

  • Scale Factor - you do what with it

  • Scale Drawings - examples we saw

  • Scale - what does it tell you

Scale Copies & Corresponding Parts

We should know these by now, but here is an example if you need a refresher.

A scaled copy is a copy of an figure where every length in the original figure is multiplied by the same number aka the scale factor.

Name a set of corresponding parts in the chat.

Scale Factor

Scale Factor is the number which all sides in the original figure are multiplied to get to the scale copy.

What is our scale factor in this figure if we say the smaller triangle is our original figure (First we need to know which sides correspond). Answer in the chat.

What are the other side lengths?

  • Now that we know the scale factor, we can figure out the other side lengths.

  • Scale Factor = 4

  • 5 x 4 = ?

  • 20

  • 4 x 4 = 16

  • So my side lengths in my bigger triangle are 12, 16, and 20
