Rule #36: Follow Class Rules
It is important to know the rules in class. The teacher wants me to follow the rules. When I follow the rules, I learn. In order to know the class rules, I can be a Social Detective

When the teacher is talking...
I should listen and wait to ask any questions. I can write down a question for later, but most of the time my teacher will answer my question if I listen carefully. I need to keep my Brain in the Group and not daydream. If I have trouble remembering directions I can write them down as my teacher says them.

Be a Social Detective and figure out what the other kids are doing.
Sit in my seat doing nothing waiting for the teacher to notice me.

If I follow the class rules and directions, I will do a better job in school!

Rule #38: Ask to Get What I Need
Teachers want to know how to help students. Every student has a different way of learning and different needs. The teacher cannot always guess what a student needs. There are certain ways I can ask for what I need from the teacher.
11
Getting Help When I Need It:
I need to raise my hand straight and high and wait for the teacher. I should look at the teacher so they know I want their attention.
She has lots of kids so I may need to wait. I should look at the work and try to figure out what I can while I wait.
I need to tell the teacher exactly what I need help with. Saying, "I don't get it." Or saying you need help with all of it without being specific makes it hard for the teacher to help you.
12
Multiple Choice
Lexi is stuck on a math problem. What is the best way for her to ask for help once her teacher sees her raised hand?
"Mrs. T I don't get this."
"I can't do it!"
"Mrs. T, I don't understand what numbers I need to multiply first."
"I need help. This doesn't make any sense."
13
Sometimes it is ok to walk up to the teacher's desk to ask a question:
When I have a specific question about what I don't understand
When the teacher is not with other kids or doing something else
When the teacher is at their desk and says to come up to ask questions if needed.
Before or after class
14
Remember:
If I don't ask, I will not get what I need.
