take a crack at something

try something to see what happens / give it a shot Example: I want to take a crack at fixing the connection before calling the technician.

to complete or finish something. Example: She wrapped up the deal before she went on vacation.

to stop what you are doing because you are tired of it or because it is not successful. Example: We've been working on this all day. I'm tired. Let's call it a day and continue tomorrow, shall we?

to be on the same page to be on the same wavelength

to agree; to have the same information. Example: Before we move forward, let's make sure we are all on the same page.

to see eye to eye on something

to share the same opinions and views; to agree with someone on a topic. Example: My sister and I don't see eye to eye on politics.

to leave a place. Example: I'd love to stay longer, but I must hit the road. or as in the famous song: It's time to hit the road, Jack, and don't you come back no more.

to start from scratch

to start something from the very beginning, especially without making use of any previous work or knowledge. Example: I started the Portuguese course from scratch.

Literal meaning: A day when your hair is difficult to style or looks unkempt. Figurative meaning: A day when things seem to go wrong, and you feel frustrated or unhappy. It's a day when you might feel self-conscious or uncomfortable. Example: I'm having a bad hair day. I think I'll go back to bed. / "I've got an interview today and it's a bad hair day."

get out of someone's hair

to stop bothering or annoying someone; to leave them alone. Example: "Sorry, I'll get out of your hair and leave you alone."

a short warning or piece of information given to someone to prepare them for something that is about to happen. Example: "I just wanted to give you a quick heads-up about tomorrow's meeting."

to be head over heels

to be completely in love with someone. Example: They are head over heels in love.

to be mad about someone or something

to like someone or something very much. Example: Argentinians are mad about football.

to be angry with someone. Example: "My mum is really mad at me for failing the Math test."

someone who gets up or arrives early. Example: Early birds get the best discounts.

someone who likes staying up late and being active late at night. Example: "My husband is a night owl, but I like to be in bed by 11:00."

to make a mistake; to cause something to fail or go wrong. Example: "I totally screwed up the chemistry exam."

to solve or explain something. Example: "I need to clear up some errors in the accounting report."

It's a piece of cake It's a breeze. It's not rocket science. It's a no-brainer. It's a cinch.

It's hard. It's a bit tricky. It's really tough. It's not a walk in the park. It's very demanding.

Wait, slow down. Example: "Just hold your horses, Bill! Let's think about this for a moment. There's no need to rush."

"Please be patient with me" or "Please wait while I finish what I'm doing." It's a polite way to request someone's patience while you complete a task or explain something that might take some time or require some effort on their part to understand.

It's not the end of the world

It's not the worst thing that could happen. Example: "We're hoping to win, but if we finish second, it won't be the end of the world."

Knock it off/Cut it out

Stop bothering or annoying someone. Example: "I'm trying to concentrate, so please knock it off or cut it out."

reveal a secret. Example: "We'll all be there at 6 for the surprise party – now don't spill the beans !"

possibly; used to ask a question politely. Example: "Do you have a pen I could borrow, by any chance?"

an idiom used to express surprise when encountering someone unexpectedly or discovering a connection between people or events that seems unlikely. Example: "Can you believe I ran into a neighbor I never ran into in the neighborhood while walking on 9 de Julio Avenue last Saturday? It's a small world!"
