An action or event with a direct result/consequence. We sometimes see this as an If… then… statement.

The ability to do work/ The force that causes things to move. The two types of energy are kinetic/potential.

The energy an object has because of motion. Kinetic energy depends on the mass of an object and its speed.

The energy that is stored inside of an object. Potential energy depends on the location/position of an object that is waiting to start moving.

The smallest part of matter. One atom by itself is called an Element. The entire list of all the elements/atoms is the “Periodic Table of Elements.”

Energy from the movement of charged particles, usually electrons.

A device that stores charged electrons in the form of chemical energy. These electrons are trapped until the battery becomes part of a closed circuit.

Electric Current

Electrons flowing through a closed circuit are flowing in an electric current. Once the circuit is open, the electric current cannot flow.

Series Circuit

Back

Type of electrical circuit where all the components/parts are connected one after another in the same path. They are all connected to the same energy source.

Type of electrical circuit where components/parts are connected across different paths. They are still all connected to the same energy source.
