Direct Control Colony

Back

A way of controlling a colony where the imperialist country takes complete control of the government. People are sent from the imperialist nation to run the government of the colony.

Indirect Control Colony

Back

A way for an imperial country to control a colony without directly governing it. The imperial country leaves local rulers in place to run the government of that colony.

An imperialist nation takes economic control (control of trade and money) in a region of another country. The imperialist nation is able to keep economic control of the region with the threat of military force.
