Succession is the process of organism inhabiting an area overtime. There are two type of succession: Primary and Secondary.

Primary Succession starts from bare rock and builds an ecosystem from there. Secondary Succession starts from an already existing ecosystem which was destroyed in some way. Pioneer species for primary succession would be moss and lichen, for secondary, it would be grass and flowers. A climax community for both would be luscious trees and other plants with animals inhabiting them.

Biodiversity is the variety of all living things on earth. Biomass is renewable energy from plants and animals. Ecosystem complexity is a way to describe a state of an ecosystem. The more biodiverse an ecosystem is, the complex it is as well.
