• Splits the music into measures

What is the double bar line like

• Tells you a new section will start

• Has one thicker bar and tells you it is the very end.

The repeat sign

• Looks like the final bar line but has dots. You look for the other repeat sign and "repeat" everything in between them.

• Tells you it is the end.

Every note has a?

Stem direction depends on

• How long the note is held out (duration)

• Where the note falls on the staff.

If the note is on the 3rd line or higher the stem goes

• down

How many notes are needed for a beam
