Photosynthesis is a process where green plants convert carbon dioxide and water into sugars using light energy. This occurs in chloroplasts, which absorb photons to split water molecules. The resulting hydrogen atoms combine with carbon dioxide to form sugars, which are stored in various parts of the plant.
