Cancer cells take the path of least resistance!

New research from Vanderbilt University shows that cancer cells, while capable of spreading quickly, prefer to move through wider, easier paths to conserve energy. This study, funded by the National Science Foundation, highlights the role of energy expenditure and metabolism in metastatic migration. By manipulating variables, researchers tracked and predicted cellular preferences for paths of least resistance. This understanding could lead to new ways to target metabolism to prevent metastasis and may have broader implications beyond cancer.
