The law, seen by its proponents as a means to combat immorality, awaits presidential approval. It was passed a day after an antipornography law banning erotic displays and provocative clothing. In Uganda, where Protestant Christianity is growing, homophobia is widespread, and LGBTQ+ individuals face frequent threats and violence.
