The centenary edition of the Tour de France was a major event, marking the start of summer in Europe. It brought great news for Latin America as Nairo Quintana, a 23-year-old Colombian cyclist, finished second overall, achieving the best result for a Colombian in the race's history. Quintana also won the polka dot jersey for the best climber and retained the white jersey for the best young rider, revitalizing Colombian cycling. Meanwhile, British cyclist Chris Froome won the Tour, becoming the second Briton to do so after Bradley Wiggins in 2012.
