France Backs Off Police Chokehold Ban

The French government initially decided to ban chokeholds in response to protests against police violence. However, following protests from police officers who argued that chokeholds are essential, the policy was adjusted. The national police director stated that while chokeholds will not be taught in police schools, officers can use them with discretion until better methods are found.
